Medianías es el nombre con el que se conoce la zona comprendida alrededor de los 600 metros de altura en el Valle de la Orotava. Allí, vides jóvenes y centenarias de variedades autóctonas hunden sus raíces en los suelos volcánicos de la isla de Tenerife: listán negro, vijariego negro y tintilla se reparten espalderas y cordones trenzados. El trenzado es un método de conducción que consiste en trenzar los sarmientos de la parra y fascina a los enamorados de la viticultura; pese a asegurar buenos rendimientos, requiere muchas horas de trabajo; no obstante, en Suertes del Marqués tienen muy claro que la tradición es un pilar básico de su filosofía de trabajo. En la viña todos los trabajos se realizan a mano y bajo principios ecológicos; las enfermedades se tratan sólo con productos naturales, intentando interferir artificialmente lo menos posible. Ya en bodega, el vino fermenta con levaduras autóctonas y los trasiegos se limitan al mínimo imprescindible. Los vinos fermentan y se crían en cubas de hormigón y barricas viejas, que no marcan el vino. No se utilizan procesos de filtrado y se emplea una pequeña cantidad de sulfuroso sólo en el momento del embotellado. Después de todo un proceso en el que la uva ha tenido el protagonismo absoluto, el Medianías se presenta como un tinto honesto y atlántico que nos traslada a su paisaje de origen a cada sorbo. Tras una capa baja de precioso color rubí emergen los aromas de tierra volcánica y cenizas, de prado silvestre y fruta roja. En boca es sedoso y fresco, con el humo envolviendo una fruta viva y ácida que recuerda a las guindas, con briznas de eucalipto, clavo y pimienta blanca en el trasfondo. Intenso y delicado al tiempo, fluye como la lava, refresca como el viento. Envejecido durante 12 meses en barricas de roble francés de 228 y 500 litros.

Bodega familiar.

Suertes del Marqués es una bodega familiar en la cual empezamos a elaborar vinos en el año 2006. Ya veinte años antes habíamos empezado la labor de viticultores vendiendo nuestras uvas a otra bodega de la Denominación de Origen Valle de La Orotava. Geográficamente estamos en el norte de la isla de Tenerife, concretamente en el Valle de la Orotava, y dentro de ella en el municipio del mismo nombre. Sin perder de vista el respeto por la tradición, pilar básico de nuestra filosofía de bodega, en Suertes del Marqués tratamos de interferir artificialmente lo menos posible en la elaboración de nuestros vinos, para lo cual trabajamos con levaduras autóctonas, evitamos trasiegos y empleamos sulfuroso en pequeñas cantidades. Todos los procesos son llevados a cabo manualmente, desde el trabajo en el viñedo hasta la vendimia. En el viñedo evitamos el uso de tratamientos sistémicos, únicamente utilizando productos naturales en la aparición de enfermedades. Desde sus comienzos en el año 2006 en esta pequeña bodega familiar hemos apostado por el empleo de variedades autóctonas y por el uso de sistemas de conducción tradicionales. Trabajamos únicamente con viticultores del Valle de la Orotava tratando así de conservar el patrimonio vitivinícola de la zona que se remonta a cinco siglos atrás.




Sus intenciones.

Su declaración de intenciones no puede ser más expresiva: "Sin perder de vista el respeto por la tradición, pilar básico de nuestra filosofía de empresa, en Propiedad Vitivinícola Suertes del Marqués tratamos de interferir artificialmente lo menos posible en la elaboración de nuestros vinos. Todos los procesos son llevados a cabo manualmente; desde la preparación de los terrenos para su cultivo hasta las vendimias. El uso de levaduras autóctonas en la vinificación constituye asimismo un aspecto clave en este principio de mínima injerencia en el proceso".




La bodega.

La bodega está equipada con depósitos de hormigón sin revestir de distintos volúmenes en los cuales solemos realizar la fermentación de nuestros vinos y para ciertas parcelas el afinamiento de los mismos. La crianza la realizamos en pequeños fudres de 500 litros de capacidad de Roble Francés y otros de grandes dimensiones de entre 2000 y 4500 litros. Concebimos el uso de las mismas como un proceso de afinamiento del vino únicamente y no para aportar ningún matiz a nuestros vinos. A su vez disponemos depósitos de acero inoxidable de distintos volúmenes de capacidad que nos permiten realizar los ensamblajes de distintas parcelas para nuestros Vinos de Villa y de las distintas barricas para los vinos de parcela, como paso previo a su embotellado.




Viñedos.

Los viñedos de Suertes del Marqués están ubicados en el Valle de La Orotava, al norte de la isla de Tenerife. La propiedad la constituyen 11 hectáreas de viñedo ubicadas desde 300 a 750 metros sobre el nivel del mar y con distintas orientaciones y composición de suelo. A su vez Suertes del Marqués trabaja otras 15 hectáreas con viticultores de la zona con viñedos comprendidos entre los 250 a 800 metros de altitud.Cepas centenarias a pie franco de Listán Negro y Blanco dominan la mayor parte de nuestros viñedos. Cultivadas en el tradicional sistema de cordón trenzado, singular sistema de conducción único en el mundo, la Listán convive con otras viñas jóvenes y viejas de otras variedades autóctonas como Vijariego Negro, Baboso Negro, Tintilla, Pedro Ximénez o Albillo Criollo, cultivadas en espaldera y cordón. Su finca El Esquilón, en la zona conocida como Las Suertes en las medianías del Valle de La Orotava, totaliza nueve hectáreas de terreno, distribuidas en 21 parcelas, extendiéndose desde los 350 hasta los 700 metros de altitud. Su principal riqueza son las cepas centenarias de listán negro y listán blanco, junto a pequeñas viñas viejas y jóvenes plantadas con otras castas canarias: vijariego, baboso, tintilla y albillo.

Medianías es el nombre con el que se conoce la zona comprendida alrededor de los 600 metros de altura en el Valle de la Orotava. Allí, vides jóvenes y centenarias de variedades autóctonas hunden sus raíces en los suelos volcánicos de la isla de Tenerife: listán negro, vijariego negro y tintilla se reparten espalderas y cordones trenzados. El trenzado es un método de conducción que consiste en trenzar los sarmientos de la parra y fascina a los enamorados de la viticultura; pese a asegurar buenos rendimientos, requiere muchas horas de trabajo; no obstante, en Suertes del Marqués tienen muy claro que la tradición es un pilar básico de su filosofía de trabajo. En la viña todos los trabajos se realizan a mano y bajo principios ecológicos; las enfermedades se tratan sólo con productos naturales, intentando interferir artificialmente lo menos posible. Ya en bodega, el vino fermenta con levaduras autóctonas y los trasiegos se limitan al mínimo imprescindible. Los vinos fermentan y se crían en cubas de hormigón y barricas viejas, que no marcan el vino. No se utilizan procesos de filtrado y se emplea una pequeña cantidad de sulfuroso sólo en el momento del embotellado. Después de todo un proceso en el que la uva ha tenido el protagonismo absoluto, el Medianías se presenta como un tinto honesto y atlántico que nos traslada a su paisaje de origen a cada sorbo. Tras una capa baja de precioso color rubí emergen los aromas de tierra volcánica y cenizas, de prado silvestre y fruta roja. En boca es sedoso y fresco, con el humo envolviendo una fruta viva y ácida que recuerda a las guindas, con briznas de eucalipto, clavo y pimienta blanca en el trasfondo. Intenso y delicado al tiempo, fluye como la lava, refresca como el viento. Envejecido durante 12 meses en barricas de roble francés de 228 y 500 litros.
