Procesos artesanales.

Fundada en 2001, la joven bodega Alta Alella se diseñó específicamente para microvinificaciones, dotada de pequeños depósitos que permitieran fermentar cada parcela por separado. Aunque la bodega está dotada de las mayores tecnologías para la elaboración, en el proceso se da prioridad a los procesos artesanales cuando es posible, de esta forma, los trasiegos se realizan por gravedad (evitando el uso de bombas), los remontes se realizan sin bombeos y las maceraciones de tintos se realizan mediante la técnica "sombrero sumergido", que consiste en mantener el sombrero de pieles y pulpa debajo del nivel del vino, favoreciendo la extracción. Los espumosos de la Cava Privat, perteneciente a Alta Alella, han conquistado a la crítica por su finura y elegancia, siendo cavas con clase, bien diseñados, producto de un concienzudo trabajo que no pasa desapercibido y que logra su objetivo.




Un proyecto familiar.

Alta Alella es un proyecto familiar. Después de una carrera elaborando vino por medio mundo, desde Alella y el Penedès hasta el Priorat, la Rioja y la Ribera del Duero, incluso en Francia e Italia como director técnico dentro del grupo Martini, los proyectos combinados de la bodega Alta Alella y la tienda de Cristina Guillén en Badalona nos han permitido reconciliar el trabajo y la familia entorno al vino. Crecimos a pocos kilómetros de donde establecimos nuestra bodega. Después de media vida viajando por el mundo vinícola, aprendiendo lo que cada región, clima, suelo o metodología puede aportar al vino, finalmente encontramos el lugar idóneo justo donde empezamos. En 1991 adquirimos la finca de Can Genís entre Alella y Tiana, empezando en seguida a replantar el viñedo, construir la bodega y reformar la casa. Al lado de la Pansa blanca, tradicional de Alella, plantamos variedades internacionales e incluso la olvidada Mataró, que no se había cultivado en Alella desde el tiempo de la filoxera. En 2001 ya estábamos preparados para elaborar los primeros vinos, fruto de las seis hectáreas ya en producción. Desde entonces hemos adquirido 6.5 hectáreas más que ahora estamos acondicionando para nuevas plantaciones. Nuestro objetivo con Alta Alella es hacer vinos transparentes en todos los sentidos de esta palabra: vinos transparentes en los cuales la expresión del terroir y del clima se aprecien claramente en cada variedad, cada vino, cada año.

La Denominación de Origen Alella una de las más pequeñas y también de las más antiguas de la Península Ibérica, se ha ido modernizando, ha incorporado nuevas técnicas y nuevos sistemas de cultivo y de elaboración, manteniendo pero el criterio que sólo en la calidad y en una fuerte personalidad, los vinos de esta comarca vitícola pueden encontrar su verdadera dimensión universal. Seguramente, uno de los misterios más atractivos de los vinos de Alella es su propia existencia, en pleno Maresme, producto de unas pequeñas viñas, que desde hace muchos años luchan por su supervivencia en una admirable y desigual batalla contra la expansión de la gran área urbana. No siempre ha sido así, ya que los vinos de Alella tienen una larga historia y una importante significación en la vinicultura catalana. Conocidos y estimados ya en la época romana, los citan Plinio y Marcial como vinos laietans. Los vinos alellenses eran, en plena Edad Media, los preferidos en la Sede barcelonesa, para convertirse más tarde uno de los vinos de calidad más exportados desde Cataluña todo el mundo. Situada al norte de Barcelona y ocupando una superficie de unas 230 hectáreas, la configuran dos comarcas, el Maresme en la orilla del mar y, en el otro lado de la Cordillera Litoral, el Vallés Oriental, cada una con su propia personalidad y con el cultivo de la vid como nexo de unión, que se remonta, en ambos casos en la época romana. Limita al norte con el Vallés Oriental, está integrado por un total de treinta municipios, dieciséis de costa y catorce en el interior. Tiene más de treinta ocho kilómetros de costa y una superficie total de 398,9 kilómetros. Se trata de una estrecha franja a los pies de las montañas y de largas playas, donde confluyen los arroyos formadas en las montañas de las que se encuentra cercado; el parque del Montnegre-Corredor, los parques de la Cordillera Litoral y la Cordillera Marina. EL Vallès Oriental consta de cuarenta y tres municipios y su capital es Granollers. Limita con el Maresme, Vallès Occidental, Osona y La Selva. El territorio.

Inicialmente, el territorio de la DO Alella estaba formado por dieciocho municipios: siete de Vallès Oriental (La Roca del Vallès, Santa Maria de Martorelles, Martorelles, Vilanova del Vallès, Vallromanes, Sant Fost de Campsentelles y Montornès del Vallès) y once del Maresme (Alella, Argentona, Cabrils, El Masnou, Montgat, Òrrius, Premià de Mar, Vilassar de Dalt, Premià de Dalt, Teià, Tiana). La climatología.

El clima del Maresme es Mediterráneo de tipo Litoral Central. La precipitación media anual oscil.la entre los 550 mm. y 800 mm., logrado en los valores más altos en el norte y en el área del Montnegre y los más bajos a los pueblos costeros del sur de la comarca. La estación lluviosa es el otoño y la seca en verano. En cuanto a la temperatura, los inviernos son moderados, y los veranos calurosos. La comarca del Vallés Oriental presenta una gran variedad de paisajes naturales muy cerca de las ciudades. El clima es diferente según la zona debido a la orografía del terreno, es Mediterráneo Prelitoral Central a la llanura del Vallès, Mediterráneo Prelitoral Norte el macizo del Montseny y al sur de la meseta del Moianès es Mediterráneo Continental. La distribución de la precipitación es irregular, de los 1200 mm. A los 600 mm. con un total anual escaso exceptuando las partes más elevadas donde el total anual es abundante. En cuanto al régimen térmico, fuera de los lugares de montaña, los veranos son calurosos y los inviernos son moderados.




Los suelos de los viñedos.

El origen de los suelos hay que buscarlo en la era primaria, cuando por el plegamiento herciniano, aflora la Cordillera Litoral constituida por granito, roca ígnea plutónica, cristalina, compuesta esencialmente de cuarzo, feldespatos alcalinos y micas que producirá al solidificarse lentamente ya muy alta presión magma con alto contenido de sílice. El granito en estado crudo, en climas templados y en contacto con el aire y el agua (cargada de gas carbónico), se va degradando, especialmente el componente feldespatos, tomando las rocas apariencia redondeada. Los resultados de esta degradación son básicamente el "arena", elemento fundamental del suelos agrícolas y además, por las aguas de las típicas tormentas de la comarca ha sido arrastrado y dispuesto en las zonas bajas, dando lugar a los actuales suelos de cultivo litorales. En el territorio DO Alella, la mayoría de los suelos dedicados al cultivo de la viña tienen como base la arena. Se trata de suelos de estructura arenosa o franco-arenosa, fáciles de trabajar, de alta porosidad, aireados, color claro, buen drenaje, gran permeabilidad, niveles bajos de materia orgánica, poca capacidad de retención de agua y elementos nutritivos, buena capacidad de retención de la irradiación solar, alto contenido de sílice, y con un pH ligeramente alcalino.




Las variedades de uva.

Las variedades recomendadas de uva blanca son: Garnatxa blanca, Pansa blanca, Moscatell, Garnatxa tinta. Las variedades blancas autorizadas: Chardonay, Chenin, Macabeu, Malvasia, Moscatell gra menut, Parellada, Picapoll blanc, Sauvignon Blanc. Como variedades de uvas negras autorizadas tenemos el Cabernet Sauvignon, la Garnatxa Peluda, el Merlot, el Monastrell, el Pinot Noir, el Samsó, el Sumoll Negre, el Sirah y el Ull de llebre.

Integrada por 13 municipios: Alella, Cabrils, Martorellas, el Masnou, Montgat, Premiá de Dalt, Premiá de Mar, San Fausto de Campcentellas, Vilasar de Dalt, Santa María de Martorellas de Arriba, Teyá, Tiana y Vallromanes.
