La Cantine Ceci data del año 1938 cuando los hijos de Otello Ceci un tabernero de la bassa parmense, en la región de Reggio Emilia, cuna del lambrusco, vendía a sus clientes un excelente vino elaborado con las uvas que les compraba a los granjeros de la zona. La región.

Situada entre Lombardía y Toscana, y extendiéndose desde la costa del Adriático hasta casi las costas del Mediterráneo, Emilia Romaga es el corazón del norte de Italia. En realidad son dos provincias, Emilia al este y la Romagna al oeste, los antiguos Estados Papales, unidos después de la unificación. Antes de que el papado se hiciera cargo de la zona, era un mosaico de territorios ducales, gobernados por un puñado de familias. Sus castillos y fortalezas permanecen conservados en ciudades con centros medievales restaurados que, aparte de algunas excepciones notables, están relativamente fuera del camino turístico. El paisaje de la región es variado, desde las estribaciones de las montañas de los Apeninos en el sur hasta los campos llanos de la llanura norte, la Pianura Padana, interrumpida solo por cortinas de álamos, que brillan con la brisa.A unque se diferencian en varias cosas, sin ir más lejos en los vinos que producen, la región Emilia Romagna forman una misma unidad administrativa. Bolonia se encuentra justo en medio de ellas, estando la región delimitada al norte por el río Po y al oeste por los Apeninos. Es una región muy extensa con cerca de 60.000 hectáreas. Tienen extensiones planas de llanura con el 75% de los viñedos y zonas de montaña con cultivos entre los 400 y los 600 metros. Tiene el rendimiento de hectolitro por hectárea más alto de Italia, sobre todo en las llanuras ya que en la montaña primara más la calidad que la cantidad. Las montañas situan a esta zona bajo el mandato climático del Adriático con veranos calurosos y secos e inviernos húmedos y con brumas que asolan las zonas de llanura.




Las uvas.

Sus vides son de las más antiguas del país, siendo introducidas por los etruscos y luego adoptadas por los romanos sobre el siglo VII aC. Utilizando principalmente cepas de vitis Lambrusca, de la que derivan famosas variedades de vino Lambrusco. Debido a la diversidad geográfica de la región nos encontraremos con diferentes terroirs que jugaran un importante papel en las diferencias de los vinos. La producción de vino de Emilia Romagna se divide al 50% entre blancos y tintos, las variedades de vid dominantes son Malvasia y Lambrusco, y despúes Trebbiano, Barbera, Bonarda y, por supuesto, Sangiovese. Un gran porcentaje de estas uvas se utilizan para producir vinos espumosos, ya sea frizzante o spumante, de los cuales los más notables son los de las denominaciones de Lambrusco: Salamino di Santa Croce DOC, di Sorbara DOC, Grasparossa di Castelvetra DOC, Modena DOC y Reggiano DOC. A pesar de su amplia cartera de reconocidas variedades italianas e internacionales como Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc y Cabernet Sauvignon que se usan tanto en vinos varietales como en mezclas, la singularidad y diferenciación de Emilia-Romagna proviene de sus raros vinos DOC locales. En la zona de Piacenza, las variedades más extendidas son las uvas negras, Barbera y Croatina que caracterizan el Gutturnio DOC, y en la zona de Parma prevalecen los vinos blancos a los tintos.




Los vinos.

Hoy en día, alrededor del 15% del vino producido en la región está bajo el amparo de unos 20 títulos DOC, y solo una pequeña fracción bajo sus dos DOCG, Albana di Romagna DOCG y Colli Bolognesi Classico Pignoletto DOCG. Esto es mucho más alto que las regiones sureñas prolíficas de Italia como Puglia y Sicilia, donde esa cifra es cercana al 4%, pero mucho más baja que en la región de Veneto, donde el 25% de todo el vino es de calidad DOC o superior. En Emilia Romagna el lambrusco, suele ser de aguja, dulce y amable. Normalmente es tinto, aunque se puede vinificar blanco y rosado, puede ser vino seco o espumoso, pero eso sí, siempre es hecho para ser bebido rápidamente.
