Gracias a la protección de la cadena alpina, el Piamonte es la región menos lluviosa del norte de Italia (con la excepción del Valle de Aosta). Los vinos del DOC Piedmont son el resultado de una gran tradición vitivinícola combinada con la sabia innovación vitivinícola y el vasto patrimonio de las vides autóctonas, principalmente de bayas negras. El DOC Piedmont incluye básicamente t Utta la viticultura de Piamonte , situada a unos 90% en las colinas al sur del Po, mientras que la viticultura resto se encuentra en las estribaciones de los Alpes franja al oeste y norte de la región se encuentra entre la montaña y El valle del Po. Los vinos de la región.
Piamonte es la historia y la cultura del vino italiano. La vid ha estado presente en el territorio piamontés desde al menos la época romana y numerosos testimonios trazan sus eventos: Tito Livio menciona a Barbaresco en la historia de Roma; Plinio el Viejo describe las características de los viñedos de Piamonte; en la primera mitad de 1200, Pier de 'Crescenzi, autor del primer tratado de agricultura, elogia los sistemas de cultivo adoptados por los agricultores de Monferrato. Y es precisamente en ese período que las primeras evoluciones tuvieron lugar con la introducción de la agricultura de engorde y con la producción de vino Barbaresco, diferente del que se cultiva hoy, vinificado con la adición de uvas Moscatello y Passeretta para hacerlo dulce y espumoso. En el siglo XVI, se ubicaron buenas áreas de producción en Monferrato y luego, en el siglo XVIII, perfeccionaron otros conocimientos sobre el cultivo de vides en las colinas. En el siglo XIX, Camillo Benso Conte di Cavour se considera un gran admirador del vino Barolo y ofrece su contribución para extender la viticultura piamontesa con la introducción de la uva Pinot, que luego será destruida por la filoxera. Mientras tanto, Barbaresco se vinifica en seco y recibe buenos consentimientos, como los vinos de Borgoña. Debemos esperar hasta 1867 para ver la primera feria del vino organizada en Turín, y en 1894 la fundación de una bodega social para la producción exclusiva de Barbaresco. Clima y territorio.
Superficie de viñedo cultivada tiene una extensión de 48.100 hectáreas de las cuales, un 43% son de montaña, un 30% de colina: 30% y de llano un 27% . La producción total de vino asciende a 2.100.000 hectolitros, dividiéndose ésta en un 60% en vino tinto y rosado y un 40% de vinos blancos. El territorio de Piamonte está formado por áreas montañosas, incluidas en el sector occidental del arco alpino; zonas montañosas, especialmente en el área de Monferrato; zonas planas, poco o casi no destinadas a viñedos. El área montañosa se divide en tres grupos: el primero consiste en las masas de roca cristalina del área de Canavese; el segundo va de la colina de Turín a las colinas de Monferrato; el tercero, el Langhe. El suelo piamontés está formado por suelos arcillosos, margosos, calcáreos, areniscas, tizas y conglomerados, que confieren elegancia y un cuerpo bien estructurado, especialmente a los vinos destinados al envejecimiento. El clima continental, típico de la zona, se caracteriza por fuertes variaciones de temperatura estacionales y diarias, inviernos largos y fríos y veranos calurosos, que son ideales para la producción de vinos con una delicadeza olfativa particular. Los sistemas de cultivo de vid más comunes en el Piamonte son Guyot y, en el área de Canavese para la producción de vinos Erbaluce y Carema, Pergola.
Áreas de producción.
El área del Piamonte es particularmente adecuada para la producción de vinos de alta calidad, en los que se identifican seis macroáreas principales: 1) el área de las estribaciones entre Saluzzo y Turín; 2) el Monferrato Astigiano; 3) el alto Monferrato; 4) el Roero; 5) el Langhe; 6) Alto Piamonte. Los territorios donde se producen los vinos Alta Langa DOCG, Asti DOCG y Brachetto d'Acqui DOCG representan algunas de las máximas expresiones del vino de las áreas de producción respectivas. Saluzzese y Torinese, es el área de producción se refiere a las estribaciones y, en parte, a las zonas montañosas, cubiertas por el antiguo marquesado de Saluzzo y los Valles Alpinos de Turín. Monferrato Asti es el área de producción se extiende desde la provincia de Asti hasta las colinas de Casalesi, hasta el límite de la provincia de Alessandria. Alto Monferrato, es el área de producción se extiende a lo largo del territorio que comienza desde Bormida di Spigno hasta Oltrepò Pavese, y desde la llanura de Alessandria hasta los Apeninos de Liguria.
