Clima y geografía.

El área de producción corre paralela a las playas de la costa toscana, ubicada en la provincia de Livorno, en la ciudad de Castagneto Carducci. Al este, una cadena de colinas corre paralela a la costa, entre Bolgheri y Castagneto Carducci, protegiendo los viñedos de los vientos invernales. Origen.

Vermentino, o Rolle, como es conocido en el sur de Francia es una uva blanca del Mediterráneo. Ha habido diferentes hipótesis sobre el origen de la vermentino.
