Orígen e Historia.

En los años 60, José Medina funda la primera bodega que lleva el nombre de su presidente. Este negocio fue desarrollándose con gran éxito durante los siguientes años, por lo que se van adquiriendo distintas marcas, siendo la última adquisición Williams & Humbert, que hoy en día da nombre a todos los negocios de la familia. William & Humbert, uno de los productores y distribuidores de bebidas espirituosas y vinos más renombrados del mundo entero, es el responsable de la icónica gama rones Dos Maderas. William & Humbert
Esta es la bodega, ubicada en el triángulo que se forma entre El Puerto de Santa María, Sanlúcar de Barrameda y Jerez de la Frontera. La región se caracteriza por el microclima que se forma gracias a los ríos Guadalquivir y Guadalete. William & Humbert son dueños, además de su casa central, de la compañía de distribución española Sovisur. Actualmente, esta bodega comercializa sus productos en más de 80 países y está realizando un programa de diversificación donde sobresalen la elaboración de vinos de Jerez y también en zonas como Rioja, Rueda y Ribera del Duero, además de la elaboración de brandys, ron y productos gourmet (quesos y derivados del cerdo ibérico).

Elaboración.

La gama de los rones Dos Maderas se produce a partir de la mezcla de rones de Barbados y Guyana, hogar de la mejor caña de azúcar y, por lo tanto, los mejores rones. Mientras que los rones de Barbados son suaves y ligeros con bouquets y sabores refinados, los de Guyana se caracterizan por tener más cuerpo, lo que los hace perfectos para mezclarse con otros. La mezcla de ambos rones se añeja por diez años en el Caribe antes de ser enviada a las instalaciones de William & Humbert en Jerez de la Frontera, una de las bodegas más grandes de Europa. Allí, gracias a la experiencia en la producción de Jerez y Brandy de Jerez, los rones pueden pasar a la etapa final. El último paso consiste en desarrollar la magnífica personalidad de los rones en botas de roble americano en las que previamente reposaron por más de dos décadas los famosísimos Dos Cortados y Don Guido. Estas botas aportan a la mezcla de rones sabores y aromas que la vuelven única.
