Español [ ES ]El Siglo XVII Guillermo de Orange prohibió la importación de licores a Inglaterra, fomentando la producción y consumición de ginebra doméstica. Esta llegó a destilarse en una de cada cinco casas londinenses, descontrolándose su consumo y provocando una rápida degeneración de la sociedad. Para frenar la situación, en 1736 se creo un impuesto de 50 libras, (Fifty Pounds), para quien se dedicase a la producción y venta de ginebra. Irónicamente, de ahí le viene el nombre a esta ginebra, elaborada en una pequeña y legendaria destilería situada en el sureste de Londres. La receta permaneció oculta durante generaciones, hasta ahora, cuando los descendientes de aquellos destiladores la ha rescatado. Su elaboración se basa en una única destilación, por lotes, en un pequeño alambique centenario. Una combinación secreta de hierbas, especias (enebro, semillas de cilantro, granos del paraíso, ajedrea, naranja y la ralladura de limón, regaliz, raíz de angélica...), frutas y flores, junto con el aguardiente de cereales (un alcohol neutro, previamente destilado cuatro veces para lograr una mayor pureza) hacen de esta London Dry Gin una ginebra superior, elegante, seca, suave, de sabor único, complejo y equilibrado. Cada botella contiene un número de destilación por lotes individuales, junto con el año en que se destila. |
