Una Compañía que busca crecer a través de la Innovación, de alianzas estratégicas y de nuevas adquisiciones. Desde sus orígenes Luis Caballero ha apostado fuertemente por la exportación y por mantener su presencia en los principales mercados internacionales. En la actualidad las marcas de Caballero están presentes en los principales mercados de los cinco continentes. Nuestra presencia internacional se asienta en una amplia red de distribuidores y agentes comerciales en más de 50 países, que representan y distribuyen nuestras en marcas en sus respectivos mercados.
Su historia.
- 1830. Fundadicón.
Don José Cabaleiro do Lago fundó las primeras Bodegas en Chipiona como derivación del negocio de madera de roble que la familia Cabaleiro poseía en Galicia.
- 1870. Primeras exportaciones.
En 1870 el negocio familiar cambió su nombre a Antonio Caballero y Sobrinos. Fue bajo esta denominación cuando se iniciaron las exportaciones a Inglaterra y América. En estos años se produjo la reagrupación de las viñas antiguas de la familia llamadas “El Benito” y “Las Cruces”, con una superficie de 105 hectáreas de las mejores tierras de la zona.
- 1924. Primeras exportaciones a América del Sur.
Se inauguró un servicio de buques de Chipiona a Buenos Aires, efectuándose el primer embarque de 3.300 cajas de Coñac Caballero en el barco Infanta Isabel.
- 1932. Traslado al Puerto de Santa María.
En este año se completó el traslado de la casa principal a El Puerto de Santa María. Se adquirieron las Bodegas de José de la Cuesta – fundadas en 1849 – y los negocios de John Williams Burdon – casa fundada en 1821- iniciando un amplio ciclo de expansión que se vio interrumpido en 1936 por la Guerra Civil Española.
- 1944. Se constituye Luis Caballero S.A.
Bajo la presidencia de Don Luis Caballero Noguera se constituyó el grupo de empresas Luis Caballero S.A. y se estableció toda la actividad del Grupo a escala internacional. La Compañía se convirtió en el primer exportador de El Puerto de Santa María a Inglaterra.
- 1961. Nueva sede institucional: Castillo de San Marcos.
En ese año el Castillo de San Marcos pasó a convertirse en el emblema de la Compañía, incorporando su silueta en las etiquetas de sus vinos. A partir de entonces, Luis Caballero se dedicó a cuidar y engrandecer el edificio, que fue declarado Bien de Interés Cultural, abriéndolo a conferencias, simposios, conciertos, exposiciones y otros eventos de calidad.
- 1970. Desarrollo y expansión.
Luis Caballero S.A. comenzó a perfilar una estrategia comercial basada en la creación de valor a través del posicionamiento de sus productos. Lo que se tradujo en un fuerte desarrollo de las ventas de vinos y destilados, especialmente en Ponche Caballero, su producto más singular, que se convirtió en marca líder en España y uno de los licores más vendidos de Europa.
- 1990. Incorporación de LUSTAU.
Luis Caballero incorporó en 1990 Bodegas Lustau, única bodega de Jerez que elabora vinos en las tres ciudades del Marco. Este acuerdo supuso un considerable respaldo financiero y la posibilidad de desarrollo y expansión para Bodegas Lustau.
- Años 90.
Durante estos años la Compañía fue ampliando su portfolio de Vinos tranquilos, incorporando en 1991 Bodegas Marqués de Irún, dedicada a la elaboración de vinos de Rueda y Ribera. En el año 1996, Destilería Cazalla S.A., empresa afincada en Cazalla de la Sierra y dedicada a la elaboración de aguardientes de anís y Licor de Guindas Miura, se unió al Grupo Caballero. En el año 1997, comenzó la construcción de Bodegas Viña Herminia en La Rioja con motivo del 50 aniversario de la marca.
- Nuevo siglo, nuevos retos
En 2003 se incorporó Europvin, S.A., distribuidora de vinos de alta gama con sede en Burdeos, con operaciones en 20 mercados, siendo los principales Estados Unidos, Japón, Reino Unido, Australia y Singapur. En 2008 Luis Caballero adquirió Golden State Wine, distribuidora de vinos de California, reforzando la apuesta la Compañía por invertir en marcas de valor también a nivel internacional. Ese mismo año se certificó la compra de cuatro emblemáticas marcas de Domecq: Fino La Ina, Río Viejo, Viña 25 y Botaina.
- En la actualidad.
En 2010 Luis Caballero incorporó a su catálogo tres ginebras de reconocido prestigio, Greenall’s, Bloom y Berkeley Square. Este acuerdo con G&J Distillers permitió a la Compañía adentrarse en el terreno de las ginebras Premium, sector en auge en la hostelería actual. En 2012 se presentó Ron Contrabando, auténtico ron oscuro de la República Dominicana, carismático y emblemático, lleno de historia y tradición. En el año 2013, de la mano de Quintessential Brands, la Compañía lanzó OPIHR, la única ginebra realmente especiada del mercado. Caballero completaba así el portfolio más amplio de ginebras del mercado. En 2014, Luis Caballero y la casa Oliver & Oliver establecen el acuerdo para la distribución en exclusiva en España de su gama de rones más emblemática, Puntacana Club.
Alianzas.
Luis Caballero establece alianzas estratégicas en las que unir experiencia y marcas de prestigio para optimizar nuestra respuesta tanto a mercados como a consumidores. Forjamos acuerdos con otras empresas para distribuir y construir sus marcas en el mercado español.
- UROPVIN.
Fundada en 1978 por Christopher Cannan, Europvin ha desarrollado una experiencia sin igual en la distribución de la calidad de los vinos europeos en todo el mundo. Actualmente exporta a 50 países, incluidos todos los principales mercados mundiales.
- UINTESSENTIAL BRANDS.
La destilería de G & J Greenall elabora ginebra desde 1761. Doscientos cincuenta años después, la empresa familiar Greenall ha evolucionado hasta convertirse en un proceso dinámico, de múltiples caras organización – tanto en la producción de ginebra y vodka para los mercados de todo el mundo. Desde octubre de 2010 Caballero distribuye en exclusiva en España sus prestigiosas y afamadas ginebras Greenall’s, Bloom y Berkeley Square. Este acuerdo permite adentrarse en el terreno de las ginebras Premium, sector en auge en la hostelería actual.
- MANGAROCA INTERNATIONAL S.A.
La marca de origen brasileño Mangaroca, de la mano de Luis Caballero, ha decidido reposicionar la imagen de la tradicional Batida de Coco Mangaroca, que lleva 15 años en España y 30 en el mercado.
- OLIVER&OLIVER.
En la planta Oliver & Oliver en la República Dominicana, se están produciendo lo que sin dudas son los mejores rones del mundo. Desde las fórmulas originales que la familia Oliver confeccionó en Cuba a mediados del siglo XIX hasta los más modernos rones formulados hoy por maestros roneros emigrados a la República Dominicana, los rones de Oliver se distinguen por su calidad, aromas y sabores.
