Afamada bodega.
Entre las bodegas que más han contribuido a dar a conocer la excelencia de los vinos de Ribera del Duero fuera de nuestras fronteras está Emilio Moro. Una firma que al mismo tiempo es la historia de una familia de viticultores con tradición de varias generaciones que ha conseguido situar sus vinos entre los mejor valorados a nivel mundial; de hecho, ha sido nominada recientemente al premio Mejor Bodega Europea por la influyente revista norteamericana ‘Wine Enthusiast', que la sitúa como la mejor de España. Ubicada en Pesquera de Duero, en un enclave privilegiado de la Ribera de Duero, actualmente está dirigida por los hermanos José Moro (presidente) y Javier Moro, herederos del amor por el vino de su abuelo y su padre, ambos de nombre Emilio. Esta bodega vallisoletana ha apostado siempre por elaborar vinos muy apegados a su terruño, convencidos de que es el suelo el que da personalidad. Posee 200 hectáreas de viñedo propio, plantadas e injertadas con un clon de tempranillo recuperado de sus cepas más viejas y que sin duda otorga frutos de extraordinaria calidad, con mucho color, carácter y matices. Entre los pagos más emblemáticos de la bodega está el Resalso (plantado en 1933, año en que nació Emilio Moro, padre de los actuales propietarios); Valderramiro (4,2 hectáreas), con las cepas más antiguas de la bodega y la cuna del gran vino Malleolus de Valderramiro; Sancho Martín y Camino Viejo, del que nace el tinto Malleolus. En marzo de 2018, Bodegas Emilio Moro iniciaba un nuevo proyecto, por primera vez, fuera de la Ribera del Duero, con la presentación de dos vinos blancos bajo la denominación de origen Bierzo. Para su consolidación, la firma, dirigida por José Moro, adquirió primeramente 15 hectáreas, plantadas con godello, a las que sumó, posteriormente, la adquisición de otras 45, que destinará también, en parte a viñedo, y a la construcción de su futura bodega en esta comarca.
Grandes generaciones del vino español.
La primera generación se entregó a la tierra, la segunda le inculcó a la tercera el saber hacer, y esta última ha construido una marca referente a nivel internacional. La historia de esta bodega la contemplan tres generaciones. El abuelo nació en 1891 y Emilio Moro padre en 1932 en el entorno vitivinícola que le rodeaba, pisando uva y trasegando vino en su pueblo natal, Pesquera de Duero, en la provincia de Valladolid. Emilio Moro padre enseñó a su hijo Emilio todo lo que sabía sobre el mundo del vino, que a su vez enseñó a sus hijos, la tercera generación que dirige actualmente la bodega, plantando el resto de sus tierras de viñas e injertándolas con Tinta fina centenaria, actualmente más de 200 hectáreas. En Emilio Moro siempre dicen que para tener un buen vino hay que mantener un buen equilibrio entre alcohol, acidez y estructura. De la misma forma, para tener una gran bodega creen necesario establecer un triángulo de equilibrio formado por tres pilares fundamentales: tradición, innovación y responsabilidad social. Sin embargo, lo más importante es que tienen fe en su trabajo. Son un equipo unido, una familia que comparte una misma pasión desde hace tres generaciones. José Moro, miembro de la tercera generación de la familia, lo refleja de forma muy clara al recordar su infancia: "Cuando captas eso desde pequeño, ese cariño, ese sacrificio, te queda una consistencia y un orgullo por tu familia que perdura toda la vida”. Trabajo, entrega y humildad son la base del sueño que la familia Moro consiguió hacer realidad.
Las fincas y sus vinos.
- Camino Viejo.
La cuna de Malleolus.
Plantado en 1989 en una ladera de gran pendiente a una altitud de casi 900 metros. Orientado hacia el suroeste, se caracteriza por un suelo arcilloso que predomina en toda la parcela, excepto en su zona más alta, donde la concentración de caliza es mayor.
-Valderramiro.
Los viñedos más antiguos. Plantado en 1924, este viñedo de vaso es el más antiguo de Bodegas Emilio Moro. Su suelo arcilloso le proporciona al vino potencia e intensidad aromática. Este viñedo se sitúa en la parte superior de una ladera cuya altitud supera los 900 metros. Fue plantado en 1944 y se caracteriza por un suelo calizo que confiere al vino complejidad y elegancia.
-Resalso.
La reserva genética.
Viñedo emblemático plantado en 1932, año de nacimiento de D. Emilio Moro y que da nombre a nuestro vino más joven ‘Finca Resalso'. Característico por su suelo franco-arcilloso.
-Sanchomartín.
Laderas finas y aromáticas.
Este viñedo se sitúa en la parte superior de una ladera cuya altitud supera los 900 metros. Fue plantado en 1944 y se caracteriza por un suelo calizo que confiere al vino complejidad y elegancia.
Los suelos.
Bodegas Emilio Moro cuenta con la base perfecta para la elaboración de grandes vinos: Tradición familiar, José y Javier Moro son la tercera generación de viticultores, un enclave estratégico en el corazón de la Ribera del Duero, uva autóctona en clon puro, suelos de excelente calidad, arcillosos, calizos y de grava y una orientación ideal. Actualmente, la bodega posee unas 200 ha. de viñedo propio, plantadas e injertadas con un excelente clon de tempranillo, recuperado de sus viñas más viejas, y algunos de sus pagos más conocidos son Resalso con 1,02 ha., plantado el año en que nació Emilio Moro, en el 1933, con suelos profundos y frescos; Valderramiro con 4,2 ha., con los vasos más antiguos de la bodega y la cuna de su gran vino de pago, Malleolus de Valderramiro; Sancho Martín con 0,7 ha., con unas excelentes condiciones de maduración, ofrece vinos tánicos y de marcada acidez, ideales para la crianza; y Camino Viejo con 7,5 ha., donde nace Malleolus.
El comienzo de la comercialización de vinos.
Desde 1987 Bodegas Emilio Moro decide comercializar sus vinos comenzando con una pequeña bodega en la que se instalaron ocho depósitos, una desgranadora, un equipo de frío para control de temperatura, una pequeña embotelladora con etiquetadora, todo ello de manera muy familiar pero con los máximos controles de calidad. En el año 1997 se comenzaron las obras de la bodega actual, que finalizaron en septiembre de 2001. El proyecto recorre las necesidades de flujo de producto planteadas desde la Dirección de Bodega y atiende a los parámetros enológicos necesarios para elaborar nuestras marcas amparadas. Básicamente la construcción goza de 4 edificios separados en 6 estancias, con 4 cotas o alturas diferentes, que persiguen una fluidez gravitacional del producto, es decir, se busca una mínima utilización de la bomba aprovechando al máximo la fuerza de la gravedad. La ventaja de los viñedos de Emilio Moro es que algunos de ellos pertenecieron a su padre y poseen el clon más puro de la uva autóctona, Tempranillo, que nosotros llamamos Tinto fino o Tinto Aragonés. Con ese clon se han injertado el resto de los viñedos que se han ido adquiriendo con el tiempo. Otra de las ventajas es la ubicación y la variedad de tipos de suelo. Pesquera es conocido por ser un pueblo de tradición vitivinícola donde, debido a la conjugación de terrenos arcillosos, calizos y de grava, se consiguen vinos de excelente calidad. La heterogeneidad de los suelos, así como los planos de exposición solar, confieren a cada pago unas características diferenciadas, tanto en la maduración como en las características organolépticas que confieren a los vinos.
