The production region of A.O.C. Côte-Rôtie is located in La región vinícola del norte del Ródano, Francia. Los viñedos se encuentran justo al sur de Vienne, en las comunas de Saint-Cyr-sur-le-Rhône, Ampuis y Tupin-et-Semons. Los viñedos son únicos debido a las empinadas laderas que miran al río y sus muros de piedra. Côte-Rôtie puede traducirse como "la pendiente tostada" y se refiere a las largas horas de luz solar que reciben estas empinadas laderas. Los vinos son tintos, elaborados con uvas Syrah y hasta un 20% de Viognier, una uva blanca utilizada por su aroma. De acuerdo con las reglas de apelación, Syrah y Viognier deben fermentarse al mismo tiempo, un proceso conocido como cofermentación.
