Pequeña historia.
Múltiples campañas de excavación llevadas a cabo en varios sitios arqueológicos en Cerdeña han revelado semillas de uva carbonizadas que datan de 1.300 a. C., que dan testimonio de la presencia de una cultura vitivinícola establecida en Cerdeña antes de la entrada de los fenicios. Se han encontrado varios recipientes de "vino" que caracterizan el repertorio vascular extremadamente rico y original, con las típicas jarras de ascoides y pequeños "askos" en hierro, bronce y cerámica de fina mano de obra. También se han encontrado docenas de ánforas de transporte de vino de la Edad Romana Imperial y Tardía. Como evidencia de la continuidad del cultivo de la vid en el área durante algunos milenios, es apropiado informar la entrada de un registro de los gastos del Archivo Vaticano, desde principios del siglo XVII, que menciona la compra de vino blanco Telavé de la aldea. Durante el período Giudicato (900 - 1400) se emitieron las primeras reglas para proteger los cultivos agrícolas, también presentes en la "Carta de Logu" de Eleonora di Arborea (1392), un código legislativo que permaneció vigente hasta el período piamontés. Unos siglos más tarde, Bacci, en 1596, escribió sobre el hábito de los sardos de producir vino a partir de vides silvestres. En 1746, un extenso informe histórico geográfico elaborado por el Intendente General del Reino, Francesco Giuseppe de la Perrière, conde de Viry, dio una descripción detallada de la Cerdeña rural al proponer la imagen de una viticultura generalizada en toda la isla. Estudios de biología molecular han permitido establecer las relaciones genéticas entre la vid doméstica y la vid silvestre progenitora. Los rasgos genéticos compartidos entre la vid silvestre y algunos cultivares locales sugieren una relación de parentesco entre las dos subespecies y respaldan la hipótesis de un centro de domesticación secundario en Cerdeña. Los episodios de domesticación de viñas silvestres por parte de viticultores han sido identificados por CRAS (el Centro Experimental Agrícola Regional de la Región de Cerdeña) ahora fusionado en AGRIS Cerdeña (Agencia de Investigación en Agricultura de Cerdeña).
