The production region of A.O.C. Bourgogne Aligoté is located in La región de Borgoña, en el este de Francia, en los valles y laderas al oeste del Saona, un afluente del Ródano. Los vinos más famosos que se producen aquí, comúnmente conocidos como "Borgoñas", vinos tintos secos hechos de uvas Pinot Noir y vinos blancos hechos de uvas Chardonnay. La región de Borgoña va desde Auxerre en el norte hasta Mâcon en el sur, o Lyon si el área de Beaujolais se incluye como parte de Borgoña. Chablis, un vino blanco elaborado con uvas Chardonnay, se produce en los alrededores de Auxerre.
