Origen.
La loureira es una variedad de uva blanca, de gran calidad, cultivada en el sur Galicia, España, concretamente por la zona de las Rías Baixas y podemos encontrarnos alguna por la zona del Ribeiro (incluso en la Ribeira Sacra), pero no mayoritaria. También la encontramos en la provincia de Minho, Portugal. Hay grandes viñas de esta variedad en el río Limia, una subregión de la denominación portugesa Vinho Verde, en el Minho. Produce vinos poco alcohólicos con una acidez media o elevada. La uva está incluida en las Denominaciones de Origen (DO) Rías Baixas y Ribeiro.
Características.
La uva Loureira es una variedad de elevado rendimiento. Las bayas son pequeñas, redondas y color verde-amarillento. Su racimo alargado y su piel gruesa hacen que esta variedad sea muy tardía en su madurez.
La uva Loureiro también se xonoce como Loureira, Marqués, Blanco Redondo o Dourado Galego, . Su aroma recuerda a Laurel, de ahí su nombre. Es una variedad que gusta de no tener demasiadas oscilaciones térmicas durante el año, con elevado rendimiento y que en vinos monovarietales o con mayoría de esta uva, deja vinos de poco grado alcohólico pero elevada acidez, lo que unido a la presencia de gas carbónico aporta frescura y chispa al vino.
Vinos.
Los vinos elaborados con Loureiro tienen una excelente acidez y son bajos en alcohol. Es una variedad cada vez más popular, pero que no es empleada en la elaboración de vinos monovarietales ni como uva mayoritaria en coupages en España, a diferencia de Portugal que si los elaboran. Son vinos refrescantes, eminentemente jóvenes, perfumados, sabrosos, ácidos, de color amarillo pálido, sin complejidad de crianza que son propensos a la oxidación prematura con lo que se suelen embotellan cada vez con un toque de dióxido de carbono para garantizar una óptima calidad, y agregar un toque de efervescencia. Su excelente acidez, unida a la presencia de gas carbónico le da mucha frescura al vino, por lo que esta variedad es utilizada en muchas ocasiones para añadir complejidad y redondear vinos en los que también están presentes otras variedades. Por ello se utiliza en la elaboración de los vinos verdes en Portugal, por la aportación de complejidad en aromas. Los aromas giran en muchas ocasiones hacia notas herbáceas en general, garantizando elegancia y autenticidad al vino. También se utiliza para la elaboración de vinos albariños que no sean monovarietales.

Origen.
La Treixadura es una variedad de uva blanca autóctona de Galicia. Es la cepa predominante en las DO Ribeiro y presente en el resto de denominaciones gallegas. Se cultiva en suelos frescos y drenados, de composición granítica. La variedad Treixadura también es conocida como Trajadura, Trincadeira, Trincadete, Verdelho Rubio y Verdelho Louro.
Características.
La treixadura es una variedad de brotación y maduración tardía, por ello conviene un cultivo bien orientado en valles y laderas, y preferentemente en terrenos cálidos. Es una cepa vigorosa que presenta un pámpano de porte erguido, con una fertilidad media, que da considerables producciones de un alto potencial cualitativo. Los racimos son de tamaño grande, compactos y de forma piramidal. Las bayas son elípticas, de tamaño mediano y de color verdoso.Tienen un hollejo grueso. El racimo tiene un tamaño medio o grande y las uvas se encuentras compactas en él. Las uvas, de forma elíptica corta y dimensiones uniformes en todo el racimo, son de tamaño pequeño y medio, con una piel gruesa de color verde amarillento. Es una cepa vigorosa, de fertilidad media y da considerables producciones de un alto potencial cualitativo. Se adapta muy bien a suelos frescos y drenados, de composición granítica. Es bastante resistente al mildiu y al oídio, por contra, es una variedad sensible a la podredumbre gris y así como a la excoriosis.
Zonas de cultivo.
En España, suele encontrarse en las DO de Rías Baixas y Ribeiro, aunque también se encuentra en la DO Monterrei, donde es mezclada con doña blanca, godello y palomino. En las Rías Baixas, la uva suele mezclarse con albariño, loureira, caino blanco, torrontés y godello. En Ribeiro suele mezclarse con albariño, albilla, godello, palomino, loureira, macabeo y torrontés. En Portugal, la treixadura se encuentra sobre todo en el vinho verde de Minho, en la cual hay 58.000 ha plantadas cerca de la frontera española y 12.000 ya fuera de dicho entorno. Aunque en esa zona, el albariño es la uva más plantada, también se cultiva treixadura y se mezcla con albariño, loureira, paderna, azal branco y avesso.
Vinos.
La uva treixadura se utiliza exclusivamente para vinificación, dando un rendimiento medio-alto. Da vinos equilibrados, con una graduación alcohólica media-alta y una acidez total media-baja. La uva contiene un punto ácido más que interesante y, en comunión con la jerezana Palomino da lugar a vinos muy afinados, frutales y del gusto de ahora. También se mezcla con Albariño para destacar sus aromas, demasiado sutiles, poco manifiestos. Aunque hay vinos cien por cien de treixadura, muchas veces se mezcla con albariño por su aroma delicado y poco acentuado. Los vinos blancos de la variedad Treixadura son aromáticos, finos y elegantes. En nariz son frutales y florales, con notas balsámicas. El buen contenido alcohólico equilibra la acidez, por lo que resultan frescos, untuosos y sabrosos. Los vinos con un alto porcentaje de Treixadura evolucionan positivamente por lo menos hasta dos años después de la vendimia. Tradicionalmente con esta variedad se elaboraban vinos dulce con uvas pasificadas bajo cubierta durante varios meses, son los vinos denominados “tostados”.

Origen.
Según cuenta la historia, el origen de la uva albariño se sitúa en el siglo XII, época en la que fue importada por unos monjes de Cluny (Francia) que se situaron en tierras gallegas, más concretamente en el Monasterio de Armenteira (Pontevedra), desde donde se extendió al resto de Galicia y norte de Portugal, aunque hay opiniones que sitúan el origen de esta uva en Galicia en la época de los romanos. Independientemente de cuál sea el origen, lo cierto es que es la variedad por antonomasia de uva blanca gallega, y la asociación con su cultura y gastronomía está presente en nuestra mente al igual que las queimadas, las meigas y la tarta de Santiago. Decir albariño es decir Galicia, variedad con la que se elaboran los vinos del mismo nombre.
Características.
La uva albariño se produce en cepas altas, vigorosas que con un desborre precoz y una maduración media/tardía, presentan una fertilidad elevada. Los racimos son de tamaño medio, no demasiado compactos y con pedúnculo corto. Las uvas son de tamaño reducido, uniformes, esféricas y con una epidermis de color verde pálido amarillento en maduración, suave y delicada, aunque en su estrujado presenta un hollejo grueso. Su pulpa es blanda, muy jugosa y con apenas pigmentación, con sabor y aromas peculiares y característicos florales intensos. La albariño también es conocida con los sinónimos albarina, alvarín blanco, alvarinha, alvarinho, azal blanco, galego y galeguinho. Es una cepa que resiste bastante bien a botritis y mildiu, sin embargo, es atacada con facilidad por el oídio y las sequías.
Zonas de cultivo.
Los viñedos de uva albariño se localizan principalmente en Galicia (España), más concretamente en la zona conocida como Rías Baixas en la provincia de Ponteverdra. También existen plantaciones en otras regiones españolas como Cantabria, Castilla y León y Cataluña y en las portuguesas de Monção y Melgaço, en el noroeste del país, que linda con la zona Gallega de Rías Baixas. Las principal Denominación de Origen que utiliza esta uva es la D.O. Rías Baixas así como a la Indicación Geográfica Protegida Vino de la Tierra de Barbanza e Iría, también en Pontevedra. También viñedos de albariño en las áreas vitícolas de California.
Vinos.
Sus monovarietales son los vinos blancos más prestigiosos de Galicia. Presentan una graduación alcohólica elevada y una acidez notable. Son caldos muy potentes en aroma con notas intensas afrutadas y con matices florales. Algunos expertos estiman algo negativo ese “exceso” de aromas afrutados, calificándolos de empalagosos. Pare evitar este, según ellos, defecto, la crianza puede ser una buena opción. es de las pocas uvas blancas españolas que permite una óptima crianza sobre lías. La mayor parte de los vinos se consumen jóvenes, aunque, como se comentó con anterioridad, algunas bodegas los elaboran con crianza en barrica.
