Quinta da Muradella Bajo Velo Treixadura Monterrei 75 cl.
Historia.
Existen evidencias, encontradas en estudios arqueológicos de la zona, que datan el origen del cultivo de la vid en Monterrei en la época de los romanos. Se han encontrado prensas, lagares excavados en roca y vasijas de esa época que evidencian la participación de este pueblo imperial en la introducción de la vitivinicultura en Monterrei. A partir del siglo IX, su cultivo se extiende por toda la comarca debido al asentamiento de órdenes religiosas que utilizaban el vino como tributo para el pago a los monasterios y a señores feudales. Monterrei siempre ha ejercido una gran influencia tanto en Galicia como en España, tanto desde el punto de vista económico, como político y cultural. Posteriormente se puede destacar que, a mediados del siglo pasado, Monterrei fue una zona donde se producían grandes volúmenes de vino de excelente calidad. Muestra de ello fue la presencia en la región de importantes bodegas, que disponían de lagares de piedra y grandes cubas de madera de roble. A principios de los años sesenta se construye la Bodega Cooperativa de Monterrei, con el objetivo de promover una correcta elaboración de los vinos y su posterior comercialización. A finales del siglo XX, la emigración, el cierre de la bodega cooperativa y el abandono de las tierras, dada su escasa rentabilidad, casi suponen la desaparición del viñedo en la zona, pero el reconocimiento administrativo de la Denominación de Origen y la aprobación de su reglamentación (por Orden de 25 de noviembre de 1994), así como la apuesta por los vinos de calidad, llevaron al resurgir de la comarca.
La expansión.
A partir de los años 90, la zona pasó a dar un gran salto cualitativo. Fue en esta fecha en la que empezó la recuperación de las variedades preferentes y, aunque se siguieron manteniendo las plantaciones con sistemas de formación en vaso griego, en muchas de las nuevas plantaciones se introdujo un nuevo sistema de cultivo que se realiza en espaldera a doble cordón para facilitar el laboreo y la recolección. Asimismo, también se produjo una considerable inversión en tecnología y se adoptaron nuevas prácticas enológicas. Todo ello supuso un gran impulso al sector vitivinícola en la comarca que hizo que, entre 2008 y 2016, el número de bodegas, hectáreas cultivadas y viticultores de Monterrei creciesen de manera exponencial: las bodegas pasaron así de ser 23 a 25 entre estos años y, del mismo modo, la superficie pasó de las 374 hectáreas a las 571 y el número de viticultores aumentó de los 328 a los 447.
Situación en el mapa.
Monterrei es una de las cinco Denominaciones de origen que existen en Galicia. Repartida entre los municipios de Castrelo do Val, Monterrei, Oímbra, Vilardevós y Verín, abarca una serie de zonas de la provincia de Ourense que poseen las siguientes características físicas comunes. La D.O Monterrei consta de 2 subzonas, el Valle de Monterrei que Incluye las parroquias de Castrelo do Val, Pepín y Nocedo do Val del Ayuntamiento de Castrelo do Val; las parroquias de Albarellos, Infesta, Monterrei y Vilaza del Ayuntamiento de Monterrei; las parroquias de Oímbra, Rabal, y San Cibrao del Ayuntamiento de Oímbra y las parroquias de Abedes, Cabreiroá, Feces de Abaixo, Feces de Cima, Mandín, Mourazos, Pazos, Queizás, A Rasela, Tamagos, Tamaguelos, Tintores, Verín y Vila Maior do Val del Ayuntamiento de Verín, y la segunda subzona que es la Ladera de Monterrei: Comprende el Ayuntamiento de Vilardevós, las parroquias de Gondulfes y Servoi del Ayuntamiento de Castrelo do Val; las parroquias de As Chas, Bousés, Vidiferre y A Granxa del Ayuntamiento de Oímbra; las parroquias de Flariz, Medeiros, Estevesiños y Vences, del Ayuntamiento de Monterrei; la parroquia de Queirugás del Ayuntamiento de Verín; la parroquia de Castrelo de Abaixo, los lugares de Castrelo de Cima, Covelas, O Mourisco, San Paio e A Veiga do Seixo de la parroquia de Castrelo Cima, el lugar de Fumaces de la parroquia de Fumaces, los lugares de Progo y Pousada de la parroquia de Progo, el lugar de Florderrei de la parroquia de Riós, todos del Ayuntamiento de Riós.
El clima y el suelo.
Las condiciones climáticas, entre las que hay que destacar las bajas precipitaciones, y elevadas temperaturas durante el verano, con valores para ambos parámetros bastante diferentes a los de otras zonas vitivinícolas de Galicia y las características de los distintos suelos suponen unas condiciones óptimas para el desarrollo de las variedades de vid utilizadas. Su clima es mediterráneo templado con tendencia continental, influenciado por el océano atlántico. Así, sus veranos son calurosos y secos mientras que sus inviernos son fríos. La zona presenta, de este modo, unas considerables oscilaciones térmicas, de hasta 30º durante la época de maduración. En esta comarca están presentes tres tipos de suelos, los pizarrosos y esquistosos que son idóneos durante las épocas de sequía y que proporcionan aromas en los vinos tintos, los graníticos y arenosos que provienen de la degradación de las rocas graníticas, presentan pH bajos, adecuados para los vinos blancos y los sedimentarios, que son horizontes complejos debido a la mezcla de materiales. Como resultado de sus suelos y clima, esta D.O produce vinos de atributos específicos, con carácter y que expresan la tipicidad de la zona.
Las uvas.
Se utilizan variedades autóctonas seleccionadas a lo largo de los años por los viticultores locales, por lo que están perfectamente adaptadas a las condiciones edafológicas y climáticas de la zona, aportando a los vinos unas propiedades fisicoquímicas y sensoriales con identidad propia de la zona de producción. En la elaboración de los vinos de la Denominación de Origen Monterrei se emplean tanto uvas blancas como tintas. En el caso de las blancas, son preferentes las uvas de la variedad dona branca (doña blanca), godello y treixadura, autorizándose las uvas albariño, loureira, caiño branco y blanca de Monterrei. En el caso de las tintas son preferentes la mencía y merenzao y autorizadas tempranillo, caiño tinto y sousón.
Los vinos.
Bajo el sello D.O. Monterrei se producen vinos blancos o tintos, elaborados ambos con un contenido mínimo del sesenta por ciento de uvas de las variedades blancas preferentes, y el 40% restante con variedades blancas autorizadas. La graduación alcohólica será en ambos tipos superior al 11% en volumen, y una acidez total mínima de 4,5 gramos por litro de tartárico, teniendo limitado el sulfuroso a 160mg/l para los blancos y 150mg/l para los tintos. Los vinos blancos y tintos de Monterrei, sometidos a un proceso de envejecimiento en barricas de roble, podrán utilizar los términos Barrica, Crianza, Reserva y Gran Reserva, según la legislación vigente. Estos vinos tendrán una graduación alcohólica adquirida mínima en volumen de 12%, en el caso de los tintos, y de 11,5%, en el caso de los blancos. EL Blanco Monterrei a la vista es limpio y brillante, color desde el amarillo pálido hasta el dorado, con nariz y boca frutales, equilibrado en alcohol y acidez y bastante persistente. Los vinos tintos son limpios y brillantes, con una capa media o medio alta de un rojo violáceo. En nariz se aprecian furtos rojos y negros y en boca es frutal, equilibrado en alcohol y acidez y persistente.

Origen.
La Treixadura es una variedad de uva blanca autóctona de Galicia. Es la cepa predominante en las DO Ribeiro y presente en el resto de denominaciones gallegas. Se cultiva en suelos frescos y drenados, de composición granítica. La variedad Treixadura también es conocida como Trajadura, Trincadeira, Trincadete, Verdelho Rubio y Verdelho Louro.
Características.
La treixadura es una variedad de brotación y maduración tardía, por ello conviene un cultivo bien orientado en valles y laderas, y preferentemente en terrenos cálidos. Es una cepa vigorosa que presenta un pámpano de porte erguido, con una fertilidad media, que da considerables producciones de un alto potencial cualitativo. Los racimos son de tamaño grande, compactos y de forma piramidal. Las bayas son elípticas, de tamaño mediano y de color verdoso.Tienen un hollejo grueso. El racimo tiene un tamaño medio o grande y las uvas se encuentras compactas en él. Las uvas, de forma elíptica corta y dimensiones uniformes en todo el racimo, son de tamaño pequeño y medio, con una piel gruesa de color verde amarillento. Es una cepa vigorosa, de fertilidad media y da considerables producciones de un alto potencial cualitativo. Se adapta muy bien a suelos frescos y drenados, de composición granítica. Es bastante resistente al mildiu y al oídio, por contra, es una variedad sensible a la podredumbre gris y así como a la excoriosis.
Zonas de cultivo.
En España, suele encontrarse en las DO de Rías Baixas y Ribeiro, aunque también se encuentra en la DO Monterrei, donde es mezclada con doña blanca, godello y palomino. En las Rías Baixas, la uva suele mezclarse con albariño, loureira, caino blanco, torrontés y godello. En Ribeiro suele mezclarse con albariño, albilla, godello, palomino, loureira, macabeo y torrontés. En Portugal, la treixadura se encuentra sobre todo en el vinho verde de Minho, en la cual hay 58.000 ha plantadas cerca de la frontera española y 12.000 ya fuera de dicho entorno. Aunque en esa zona, el albariño es la uva más plantada, también se cultiva treixadura y se mezcla con albariño, loureira, paderna, azal branco y avesso.
Vinos.
La uva treixadura se utiliza exclusivamente para vinificación, dando un rendimiento medio-alto. Da vinos equilibrados, con una graduación alcohólica media-alta y una acidez total media-baja. La uva contiene un punto ácido más que interesante y, en comunión con la jerezana Palomino da lugar a vinos muy afinados, frutales y del gusto de ahora. También se mezcla con Albariño para destacar sus aromas, demasiado sutiles, poco manifiestos. Aunque hay vinos cien por cien de treixadura, muchas veces se mezcla con albariño por su aroma delicado y poco acentuado. Los vinos blancos de la variedad Treixadura son aromáticos, finos y elegantes. En nariz son frutales y florales, con notas balsámicas. El buen contenido alcohólico equilibra la acidez, por lo que resultan frescos, untuosos y sabrosos. Los vinos con un alto porcentaje de Treixadura evolucionan positivamente por lo menos hasta dos años después de la vendimia. Tradicionalmente con esta variedad se elaboraban vinos dulce con uvas pasificadas bajo cubierta durante varios meses, son los vinos denominados “tostados”.
